I could see something like that working out better if they put generic gear on all of the characters who were fighting.
Or had people on a server where their bank was full of all the gear they could possibly use. In that way, people could direct themselves in one way or another, but it would be equal opportunity for all --- the person with the best spec / design would win. Not the person who had raided the most.
Has WoW reached the level of Competitive Gaming?
Moderators: Officers, Commanders
It's going to be an arena competition. I watched the competitions at blizzcon for Warsong Gulch and what they do is this. You have your team and they have premade characters you can choose from. You are given a certain amount of time to use your talent points where you choose and then the battle begins. I imagine the arena thing will be done very similar.
I doubt it will be a competition where people use their own toons.
I did watch the starcraft and warcraft competitions. There were some insane matches to watch that was suprisingly entertaining even with a commentator giving you the play by play action.
I think the one kid I saw won $10k which is not too shabby.

WoW is still too unbalanced in PvP to make something bigger than what it is now a reality IMO. And, it definitely isn't a sport
