Ah ... that brings back memories of canoe trips through Algonquin. Water this time of year would be pretty nice. The best swimming is in August because the water is warmed up, but you don't have the sweltering heat of July. My wife would disagree, but she grew up near the equator, so she's almost always cold. I'm guessing the water would be in the high 60s or low 70s. Some of the deeper lakes stay colder than that.
