sup guys...

I use a laptop to run wow through.. external monitor, mouse, and keyboard... anyways.. earlier today it started just crapping out.

Going fine.. then bam.. off..

try to reboot.. starts.. seems like fans get kicked into overdrive or something then.. off. I've rebooted several times... sometimes it just craps out within 20 seconds... sometimes it takes 10 minutes.

needless to say this is very frustrating.

any ideas/suggestions? Anyone know where I can find a cheap, but good tower?

Sounds like the power supply of your laptop has bit the dust.

I don't know how cheap or how good you want, since those are very relative terms.

I just got my new PC 2 months ago from cyberpowerpc.com and I'm quite happy with the quality and price I paid for what I got.

I'll probably get a new tower in the next few months... what I did do was buy one of those cooler pads for laptops which helps distribute the heat away better... it seemed to help last night as I had no problems...

another thing I did was put a ice pack on the hottest part of the underside... its like the re-freezable packs with a polyester cover so it doesn't get wet... but this helps too..

I'd hate to get a new rig right away as I recently just threw another gig of RAM in my laptop and its running pretty nice from that.

With the cooling, just watch that it's not TOO cool, or you'll get condensation inside the laptop, and that is definitely not good. It's the same issue that guys who use water cooling or refrigerant cooling for overclocking purposes.

Just make sure that your laptop is not on an insulating surface (like a sofa or blanket), and it can also help to just prop up the back on a book or something, get a little airspace underneath the laptop.

If your going for a new pc watch out with Vista it can cause some headaches for those of us not computer inclined. I had to do a lot of research before deciding on my new PC since I'm also running on a lap top. One that once I get my PC will be strictly for School purposes. And, maybe backup for wow lol. Oh yeah hey Ulwar how would you rate TEC cooling on a computer processor?
